Events & Projects
01
Elderly Instruments 50th Birthday
Elderly Instruments is a stringed musical instrument retailer. To celebrate Elderly Instruments' 50th year in business, Sturdy Roots planned a Birthday Bash that shut down the streets of Lansing. The celebration kicked off with 9+ hours of music on two stages featuring staff bands, guest prizes and gift bags, axe throwing, local artisan vendors, and a handful of food trucks.
02
Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival
The Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival was created to highlight an often obscured piece of history: the central role of blackness in American roots music. For the first three years of the festival, Sturdy Roots served as festival assistant and managed artists, stages, and general festival logistics.
03
The Banjo Gathering
The only event focused entirely on the banjo
as a historical, cultural, and design object. Lillian hosts this event with another industry powerhouse, Kristina Gaddy. The two have revived an established event into a modern celebration of banjo history and social context.
